COMPETIÇÃO 8
A sessão competitiva do dia 21 de Novembro, sexto dia de Festival, iniciou-se com a projecção 35mm do multi-premiado História Trágica Com Final Feliz de Regina Pessoa. Sem surpresa, o filme voltou a dar cartas elevando a animação portuguesa a níveis muito aceitáveis como seguimento de uma corrente iniciada em meados dos anos oitenta pela mão de Abí Feijó, entre outros. Um argumento original e interessante a nível estético e narrativo que contempla, ao que tudo indica, a cidade do Porto - como cenário de fundo – com tão marcante representação pictórica.
Tanghi Argentini do belga Guido Thys evoca o inolvidável culto do gag, reconhecido em termos da comédia, do tempo mudo, em particular. Desta forma uma falsa indução confunde o espectador procurando o efeito surpresa do desvendar da história. O Tango bailado, também ele se move na vertigem do inesperado.
Starfly preenche os items surrealistas da audiência ao convocar a si clássicos tanto da ficção científica como do fantástico ou do sobrenatural, fusão onírica de objectos distintos. Tal como num sonho, a vida vegetal do protagonista reporta ao delírio elementos do real que lhe são apenas sensoriais. Embora envelhecida, a personagem mantém-se ingénua nos seus sentimentos e raciocínio. Daí a BD, a relação com o pai, com a tia, e com as criaturas distorcidas.
Por outro lado, Ela do Reino Unido conduz a narrativa em outra direcção, mesmo que no universo da infância. Os pais como parentes neutros das suas crianças, sem limites nem barreiras éticas e a progressiva fragilidade psicológica das crianças ocidentais, tornam a curta-metragem de Silvana Aguirre uma lente zoom num palco livre à consciencialização poética. Desta forma, a estética fria, quase gelada da imagem faz compreender o labirinto em que a criança se encontra, em busca do bater do seu próprio coração.

The November 21st competition session, the sixth day of the Festival begun with the 35mm projection of Tragic Story With a Happy Ending by Regina Pessoa. Without surprise the movie gave again the cards increasing the portuguese animation to high standard levels following its eighties predecessors like Abí Feijó, among others. An original and interesting argument in a narration angle that gives Oporto – as a backgound set – the oportunity to mark its pictoric representation.
By the belgian Guido Thys Tanghi Argentini evoques the unforgetable gag cult, known among the comedy cinema, particularly by the no-sound era. This false induction betrayls the spectators mind by using the surprise effect to reveal the end of the story. The danced Tango moves too in the limbo of the unespectable.
Starfly fills the audience surrealistic items claiming for classicals from the science fiction and the fantasy genres, oniric fusion of different objects. Like in a dream the protagonist vegetative life reports true elements just sensorial to him to his delirium. Although aged the caracter is still knaif in his feelings and his thinking. Therefore the comics, the father-to-son relationship, the aunt relationship, and the distorted creatures.
By the other hand Ela from the United Kingdom drives the narrative in another direction, although in the juvenil universe too. The parents like neutral relatives of their offspring, with no etic limits or barriers and the children progressive psicologic weakness make the short film by Silvana Aguirre a zoom lens in a free from a poetic teaching stage. The image cold look, almost frozen make us understand the labirinth in wich the child is trying to find her own hearbeat.
